Here is the information we will need to help you fix your broken spring. All of this information is important – we need the spring size to within a sixteenth of an inch! Always view the pictures as from the inside of the garage looking out.

First, select whether you have torsion or extension springs on your garage door:

If you have a torsion (“windup”) type spring, select its placement:

If it’s an extension spring, note the spring type:

Select End Type :

Double Loops	Single Open Loops	Clips Ends	Metal Strap with Hole for Bolt

For either type of spring, we need to know the inside diameter, the length of 10 coils, and the overall length of the broken (unwound) spring:

Select Inside Diameter : 1 19/32      1 ¾      2      2 ¼

Enter length of 10 coils within 1/16th inch :

Enter Overall Length of broken (unwound) spring (within 1/2 inch): ( Note: Never measure the wound spring as it will be longer)
